Beith challenges Minister to save Seahouses Harbour

Alan Beith MP has called on Ben Bradshaw, the Fisheries Minister, to throw his weight behind the project to save Seahouses harbour.

Emergency repairs are needed to the north pier and the southern breakwater of the harbour. If these repairs are not carried out, severe weather over the winter could lead to a breach, threatening fishing vessels and the harbour itself.

Alan said

"I have told the Minister about the severity of the situation. I have asked him to do all he can to ensure that the FIFG grant for works on the north pier is dealt with as quickly as possible, so that work can begin.

"I've also asked him to look again at the coast protection scheme for the southern breakwater. It has been down for repairs since 1999 and really cannot be delayed again."
