Fighting for a better deal for the Berwick upon Tweed constituency is my top priority.
As the MP for Berwick upon Tweed, listening to people and hearing about their views and concerns is extremely important to me, and to my team based in Westminster and the Constituency Office in Alnwick.
There is much to be proud of in our area but there is also plenty of work still to be done.
I'm keeping up the pressure on the Ministry of Defence to ensure we have round-the-clock Search and Rescue cover from RAF Boulmer. Many more lives could have been lost in Cockermouth if Boulmer (and other bases) had not had an operational crew on 24 hour duty when the flooding happened, and I want to ensure we keep that cover for when emergencies like the Cockernmouth floods happen, as they do from time to time.
You can join the Facebook campaign to keep 24 hour cover at RAF Boulmer.
Please add your voice to the campaign to Keep Boulmer 24 hours - sign the petition here.
I'm having regular discussions with the Schools Minister about the need for new buildings in Alnwick, which he saw for himself in October, pushing him to find a way of getting access to money to provide new buildings. The split site school has so many problems with its buildings, which are in a dreadful state, yet we cannot get funding for new buildings because the students and staff produce such good results - we are being penalised for success, and that cannot be right.
As well as big issues like these, I'm always available to help with individual problems.
If you want to get in touch, to raise a problem or let me have your views, I am always interested in hearing from you. Please remember to include your name and address. If you would like to meet in person, please come along to a surgery - I hold these in Berwick and Alnwick every month and at various times in other parts of the constituency.
